Slovak Association of Dairy Farmers
- defends the interests of dairy farmers:
• in milk value chain
• in negotiation and communication with state authorities and self-governing organizations
-represents dairy farmers in expert groups and advisory bodies at national and European level
-provides the latest information and analysis results on milk sector development and prospects in Slovakia, in European Union and in world in terms of:
• farm-gate/purchase, processing and retail prices of milk
• production figures (number of cattle and milking cows, milk yields, milk production and deliveries, etc.)
• national and European legislation regarding production, sale and quality of raw milk
• other actual information and translations from foreign resources
-makes analyses milk production costs and returns at dairy farm level
-organizes educational, informational and advisory activities at national and international level (for example traditional annual conference - Day of Dairy Farmers)
-SZPM has been a member of European Dairy Farmers (EDF) since 2005:
• works as National EDF Branch
• coordinates EDF activities and projects at national level
• mediates memberships of Slovak dairy farms in EDF
• manages participation of Slovak dairy farmers at EDF Congresses
• mediates direct cooperation of its members with EDF members
-is one of the founders and coordinators of the MILK FUND, which was established in 2008
-is actively involved in development and implementation of promotion and informational activities to support milk and dairy products consumption which are financed by the Milk Fund
SZPM is represented in:
- several working expert groups established by the Slovak Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for Common Agricultural Policy strategic documents development and implementation
- Commodity Milk Board by the Slovak Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development
- Working Party on Milk and Dairy Products by Copa/Cogeca in Brussels (WPM)
- Civil Dialogue Group on Animal Products – MILK by European Commission in Brussels (CDG – Animal Products – MILK)
- EDF STAR – the Scientific Team for Analysis and Research of the European Dairy Farmers
- EDF Council
- Milk Fund Council
- Working Group on Development and Implementation of Promotional and Informational Activities to support milk consumption
